Gaming and anime fans united with the announcement of a Genshin Impact anime. The popular RPG game made by miHoYo, now rebranded as “HoYoverse,” has grown tremendously since its release in 2020. As with other gigantic IPs, it seemed obvious that the next direction to take would be to expand to other forms of entertainment, namely anime.

When is the Genshin Impact anime being released? What part of the game’s plot will it cover? HoYoverse has been very secretive about the whole project thus far, but here’s what little information is currently available.

Ready to dive into the world of Teyvat even more? Here’s everything about the Genshin Impact anime you need to know.

When Is The Genshin Impact Anime Coming Out?

Sadly, there have been no confirmations from HoYoverse on when the Genshin Impact anime is coming out. HoYoverse produced a concept trailer for the anime in September 2022, which was initially revealed on their Genshin Impact 3.1 stream.

The trailer does specifically state that it is a long-term project. There have also been unconfirmed reports/leaks that three out of twelve episodes are already finished and that it took 18 months to get them done. Since that’s all fans have to work with right now, the estimated release window is around 2024/25. Although, now that the anime is confirmed, they might step up the production. So, it could come out far sooner than that.

What Is The Genshin Impact Anime About?

The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot. It’s simply a concept trailer showing what the anime would potentially look like. If you’ve never played or looked into Genshin Impact, you’d probably have no idea what the anime could even be about. For the fans, all that’s obvious is that Paimon, Aether, and Lumine are in the show.

The only details about the potential plot have come out through the leak mentioned above. It implies that the anime will be a prequel that helps fill in gaps and support the game’s overall plot. It will also seem to cover the Mondstadt arc, which matches the scenery in the trailer.

Keep in mind, though, that the leak is questionable, so whether or not this will actually be the plot is still up in the air.

Which Studio Is Making The Genshin Impact Anime?

HoYoverse themselves will take the helm for the Genshin Impact anime’s production. Animation-wise, the trailer reveals that Ufotable will be the studio that gets the honors.

HoYoverse is mainly a gaming company, and aside from small projects like a Honkai Impact 3rd net anime spin-off, they don’t have a lot of experience with anime. Though the games themselves are very anime-like, only time will tell if they can bring that same magic to their shows.

Ufotable, on the other hand, already has a ton of experience with animating shows. They were the studio behind Demon Slayer and the Fate series.

Where To Watch The Genshin Impact Anime

There have been no confirmations on where the Genshin Impact anime will air. This isn’t too surprising since the anime is still in its early stages of development. Keep your eyes open for more updates on the show’s production.
