The final season of arguably the most popular show of all-time is upon us with Game of Thrones Season 8. As with all things Thrones, you never know what you’re getting from one week to the next thanks to the veil of secrecy that surrounds its production — we don’t even know the episode names for this season in advance.
With just six episodes in Game of Thrones in total, it’s made up for by four of them being almost as long as feature-length movies. Here’s everything you need to know about the episodes in Game of Thrones 8, including when you can watch them and who’s in the director’s chair.
Game of Thrones: Season 8 – Episode 1
Name: Winterfell Director: David Nutter Episode Length: 54 minutes Air Date: April 14th, 2019 Synopsis:“Daenerys arrives at Winterfell and Jon Snow gets some big news.” Our Review:“Some nice developments, but we didn’t tune in to the final season hoping for people in rooms talking – we came for BLOOD.” – 6/10
Game of Thrones: Season 8 – Episode 2
Name: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Director: David Nutter Episode Length: 58 minutes Air Date: April 21st, 2019 Synopsis:“Jaime faces judgement and Winterfell prepares for the battle to come.” Our Review:“But the inescapable fact is ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ finds itself feeling directionless, unsure what it is or what it’s doing, when it’s meant to be triple-A caliber television.” 4/10
Game of Thrones: Season 8 – Episode 3
Name: The Long Night Director: Miguel Sapochnik Episode Length: 82 minutes Air Date: April 28th, 2019 Synopsis: “Winterfell fights the Army of the Dead.” Our Review:“A good episode, but also the distinct underlying worry the show may have climaxed too soon.” – 8/10
