Well, that was certainly a blast. While I don’t know whether it was necessarily worth the wait, The Device, the newest event in Fortnite to close out Season 2, featuring a lot going on at once, including an intriguing appearance by Jonesy.
First off, The Agency came to life with the hatches around it producing pylons, which were later revealed to be powering Midas’ strange machine that he wanted to use to change the storms forever.
All things seemed to be going well, the storm pushed all the way back — and then things very quickly went bad.
The Device had a malfunction, leading to the the entire ocean encircling The Agency. We cut to two first-person scenes in the middle of all of this, the second revealing that the person on the phone was none other than Jonesy: the game’s unofficial mascot.
What all of this means is anyone’s guess. Is the storm now an ocean? Is Jonesy a god and we are all his subjects in a virtual reality world?
I guess we will have to wait and see until Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 launches on June 17th.
