Week 3 of Fortnite Season X is here, towing the ‘Worlds Collide’ mission along with it. This mission consists of challenges that focus on using Rifts, journeying into Rift Zones and completing objectives in areas that have been altered by the sci-fi wizardry that has been taking place in Fortnite since Season 5.
Like Week 1, Week 3 isn’t packing the interesting punch Week 2 brought, which is exemplified by the prestige challenges. This article focuses on the ‘Consume Foraged Mushrooms’ challenge.
Below is a map with all the mushroom spawns locations we could find circled in red. To complete this challenge, all you need to do is consume ten mushrooms in total. As they grant shields, you don’t need to have taken damage first to consume a mushroom (unless you have maxed shields, of course). So landing at a location and searching for them is a viable and fast strategy.
Fortnite Season X Mushroom Spawn Map
For the most part, you’ll find the mushrooms to mostly spawn in the ‘old world’ biome (i.e. the parts of the map that haven’t undergone massive biome replacements). Lonely Lodge, Pleasant Park, Junk Junction and Shifty Shafts (the exception, though they did spawn here while it wasn’t snowed in) all spawn copious amounts of mushrooms.
It’s important to note that mushrooms follow the same logic as chests when it comes to spawning. What this means is they have set locations that they can spawn, but won’t necessarily spawn there every game (it chooses randomly from all the available locations within a spawn area). You may then check one of the locations detailed on this map and you may find anything between no mushrooms, some mushrooms and a bucket load of mushrooms. So keep that in mind as you go foraging.
East Of Snobby Shores
If you follow the road directly east out of Snobby Shores, you’ll find a pickup truck parked on a dirt patch (if you’re lucky it will also have a chest on its tray). Mushrooms will spawn in this dirt patch. B5 on the main map’s grid.
Haunted Hills
Directly south of Haunted Hills is a small pickup truck (with a possible chest spawn on the pickup’s tray). Mushrooms will spawn around this pickup truck and nearby trees. B3 on the main map’s grid.
Junk Junction #1
Junk Junction has quite a few spawns nearby, but they all tend to be a bit spread out. The first can be found just outside of Junk Junction’s fence, on the southeastern corner. B2 on the main map’s grid.
Junk Junction #2
The second spawn can be found directly west of Junk Junction, where you will find a small patch of trees that grow mushrooms under them. You’ll find this spawn on the intersection of B1 and B2 on the main map’s grid.
Junk Junction #3
These spawns are as close to The Block as they are Junk Junction. Directly between them both are patches of trees, one north of the road, one south. Both spawn mushrooms. These spawns occupy D1 and C2 on the main map’s grid.
Lonely Lodge
Lonely Lodge boasts the most dense location of mushroom spawn in the game (that we could determine). They stretch all the way from the north to the south of the area, but tend to congregate more heavily towards the side of the forest. The spawns stretch from J4 to J5 on the main map’s grid.
North Of Happy Hamlet
The other arctic mushroom spawn we found is directly North of Happy Hamlet (east of Polar Peak). North of Happy Hamlet is a large mountain and further north of that is a small unnamed town, which hosts the giant wooden chair. Slightly west of this town is a small patch of trees, mushrooms will spawn under these trees. D8 on the main map’s grid.
North Of Retail Row (Mega Mall)
Directly north of Mega Mall is a shallow valley. In this valley is a small forest. You can find mushrooms spawns on both the north and south sides of the road amongst the trees. H5 on the main map’s grid.
Shifty Shafts
Shift Shafts boasts a fair number of spawn locations (we counted four all up). They tend to mostly congregate towards the western end away from the mine, nearer to the house. You can find some very slightly north and south of the mine though. D7 on the main map’s grid.
Southwest Of Pleasant Park
Southwest of Pleasant Park, south of Haunted Hills and Northeast of Snobby Shores ia fairly large forest. This entire forest will have mushrooms spawns peppered around it. It occupies B4 and C4 on the main map’s grid.
Stunt Mountain
Directly south of Pleasant Park (just past the gas station) is ‘Stunt Mountain’. Stunt Mountain is a tall narrow mountain replete with ramps (for obvious reasons). At the eastern foot of this mountain is mushroom patch, rip for the picking. You’ll find this patch on the intersection of C4 and C5 on the main map’s grid.
Prestige Challenge
The prestige version of this challenge requires you to consume five mushrooms in a single match. This is of course, half the total mushrooms required by the normal mode mission, but you can’t leave/finish the match before eating all five. Realistically speaking, this is probably easier than the normal mode challenge as mushrooms tend to spawn in large enough patches that finding five without venturing too far from your initial landing spot is likely (meaning less chance of a random encounter and, subsequently, death).
I’d personally suggest Lonely Lodge as it seems to contain the highest density of mushroom spawns, enough to even finish the normal mode in one lap of the area.
The other two more involved challenges for the Worlds Collide mission are: Visit Cube Memorials and Use A Rift. Completing the normal mission will grant players the Rift Rider glider and completing the prestige mission will unlock the Snowstorm recolour for the Catalyst skin.
