Week 8 of Season 6 has been released and with it two large map search based challenges have dropped. The first of which is the ‘Dancing Fish Trophies’ challenge. The second is the Clay Pigeon skeet shooting challenge, which this article will focus on specifically.

For long-time players of Fortnite, you’ll notice that this challenge is very similar, if not outright identical, to the one from Season 5. Even the location of the skeet machines (the machines that fire the Clay Pigeons) are the same, so for those familiar, there isn’t much new to this challenge. However, in the interest of keeping the guide updated and easier to location and follow for newer players (and to keep up-to-date with the ever changing map), we’ll be retreading the locations of the skeet machines and the objectives of the challenge.

The most difficult part of this challenge is, ultimately, finding the skeet machines as they’re often placed in very out of the way locations, which no notable features (or sounds) that attract you towards them. Upon locating one of the machines, you need to interact with it. It will then load a Clay Pigeon and after a small wait, will fire it out. Your task is to shoot this Clay Pigeon before it hits the floor. If you’re successful, it will load another one and fire it. You need to repeat this process at least three times in a row (it will restart from 1 if you let one hit the floor) to get credit for that particular machine. Then do this at two more (but different) machines to finish this challenge entirely.

Hitting the Clay Pigeons isn’t particularly difficult. They don’t fly fast and move in a very predictable arc. The machine itself doesn’t tend to deviate from that particularly arc much until it begins firing multiples at once (which is well past the minimum to complete the challenge), so you can just pre-aim at the spot where you think the Clay Pigeon will fly only moving your aim slightly to adjust to any small changes the machine will make. Additionally, you can use any gun you want. If you really want to hedge your bets, a shotgun or high fire rate weapon will help reduce the difficulty further by just allowing you to be less accurate in general.

Without further ado, here is a map with all the machines we found circled.

We found six machines in total, which is double the amount of machines required to complete the challenge. Therefore, like most search based challenges, just pick the ones most convenient for you.

Flush Factory Clay Pigeon Skeet Machine

Strictly speaking, this machine isn’t found very close to Flush Factory in earnest. But if you follow the road from Flush Factory north to the unnamed town with the giant chair, you’ll find a machine just a little bit further west of the chair. D8 on the main map’s grid.

Leaky Lake Clay Pigeon Skeet Machine

Truly, this machine isn’t located anywhere near to Paradise Palms, however it is located in the desert area right near the bottom southeast corner of the map. More specifically, just to the east of the river as it runs off the edge of the map entirely. You’ll find it on the border of I9 and I10 on the main map’s grid.

Pleasant Park Clay Pigeon Skeet Machine

To the west of Pleasant Park is a lone house dilapidated house and to the west of that is a skeet machine in a small ditch. It rests on the border of B3 and B4 on the main map’s grid.

Risky Reels Clay Pigeon Skeet Machine

The final machine can we found to the direct west of Risky Reels and the east of Lazy Links. The machine itself rests on the east side of the river (closest to Risky Reels), overly looking the river itself. G2 on the main map’s grid.

All that’s required to complete the challenge is a gun, some patience and the requisite luck that keeps you from getting sniped as you stand perfectly still aiming at flying Clay Pigeons. This challenge and the Dancing Fish Trophies are both fairly involved and time consuming challenges, especially the latter of the two. You can also find our weekly challenge overview here.
