When Does Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 5 Begin? (Fortnite OG)

Fortnite season 5

As much as people may criticise Fortnite, it’s really hard to knock Epic for just how well they know their own audience, and how big of a driving force nostalgia can often be. Chapter 1 is often looked back on with rose-tinted spectacles for many of its older players as the peak of the game and battle royales in general, and now we’re set to go back to it for Chapter 4 – Season 5, which will also be called Fortnite OG.

The new season is widely believed to be dropping players back into Fortnite: Chapter 1 – Season 5, a super popular summer season from 2018 where the P90 reigned supreme and golf carts were speeding across the island. But when exactly will we be able to take a trip back in time in Fortnite?

Well, Epic themselves have confirmed that Chapter 4 – Season 5 will begin on Thursday, November 3rd, 2023, as you can see from the official graphic down below.

As for a start time, if it follows the same pattern as pretty much every season start time ever, Fortnite should go into downtime at around 8AM GMT on the 3rd and then be back online around noon. Here’s a countdown to the end of Season 4 to help you figure it all out.

Fortnite OG

It’s worth bearing in mind that Fortnite OG will go down as probably the shortest season ever, as Fortnite: Chapter 5 is expected to launch in December.

So, what can we expect from Season 5? Well, the first thing is an experience as close to the old Fortnite as it can feasibly be, with old weapons and vehicles returning, as well as the original map. However, more modern mechanics like mantling and sprinting will be kept in the game, as will Zero Build. If you want to play Fortnite as you remember it without some of the annoying quirks of the time, Fortnite OG may be the way to do it.

Personally, Chapter 1 – Season 5 is my favourite ever season of Fortnite, as I must have spent about 200 hours playing it. It was the perfect blend of serious and casual gameplay just before the tipping point when everyone started taking it much too seriously. If Fortnite OG can get even slightly close to replicating that same feeling, I might start dumping another 100 hours in Fortnite.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
