DOOM Eternal’s Battlemode Gets Overview Trailer

2v1? The demons need more back-up.

Doom Eternal

Bethesda and id Software have published a multiplayer overview trailer for DOOM Eternal’s ambitious 2v1 multiplayer experience, Battlemode, which pits two player controlled demons against a fully loaded and capable Doom Slayer, which on paper doesn’t like an even fight: clearly there needs to be more demons. Check out the trailer below.

Battlemode features five demons to choose from and six maps to square off in, with the demons revealed so far including the Revenant, the Pain Elemental and the Mancubus. Each demon has their own set of abilities that are designed to make the Doom Slayer’s day a living hell. Literally.

The demon players will also be able to summon AI controlled demons to try and overwhelm the Doom Slayer, and they can summon hazards that can deal damage to their opponent. Meanwhile, the Slayer can use the AI demons to farm resources, while utilising his new aerial capabilities like dashing, bounce pads and monkey bars, along with a set of teleporters found on each map to escape the demons.

In order to win, the demons simply have to murder the Doom Slayer, while if the Slayer kills one of the demons, they must kill the other within 20 seconds otherwise the slain demon will spawn with half health. Demons aren’t supposed to beat Slayers 1v1, so they’ll have to stick together and co-ordinate their offense. New maps and demons will also be made available to all players for free in the months after launch.

It sounds intriguing, and we can’t wait to see how it works when DOOM Eternal launches on November 22nd for PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. Are you excited? Let us know in the comments.
