Though throwbacks to bosses from previous games are a common enough event in Metroidvania and Souls-like games, Benedicta of the Endless Orison is certainly the most on-the-nose example in Blasphemous 2. Drawing some pretty close comparisons to the third boss of the first game in both design and setting, chances are if you’ve played the first game, you’ll already have an edge on Benedicta of the Endless Orison.

However, if you don’t, the basic name of the game here is jumping between the two moving elevators while dodging her attacks. If you use the red circle projectile from your prayers, you can make this fight a lot easier on yourself as well. You can hit Benedicta with it from pretty much anywhere on the screen as long as you have enough magic to cast, and you will, of course, build it back up by hitting her with your more traditional weapons.

As for her moves, she will commonly use a purple electric strike attack similar to one you will have encountered from a standard enemy already. You can dodge through that one or jump over it. She will also utilize a circling grey orb attack. Note that you can dodge through these or destroy them as needed with a couple of hits.

Next up are the hourglass-shaped energy attacks that come from the floor, ceiling, or edges of the screen. While these are initially easy to avoid, as the fight goes on, Benedicta will begin setting them up in rapid succession and blasting them off one after another. You have to move or jump out of the way of these, but don’t worry if you get clipped a time or two.

You’ll want to essentially brute force her with the red ring projectile attack and your ball and chain for the most effective strategy. Shortly after the halfway point of the fight, watch for her attacking the chain on one of the elevators, as that’s your signal to get off. She’s about to drop it into the abyss, leaving only one landing point for you.

While this might seem like it makes the fight harder, it actually makes it easier in some ways. From here, this Blasphemous 2 boss stays much closer to you, essentially hovering in circles around you and neglecting some of her best attacks. Just keep knocking her around from here, and she’ll be down for the count in no time.
