If you’re looking for a free co-op adventure to enjoy for the next couple of weeks, Epic Games Store has just the thing for you and your friends, as Remnant: From The Ashes is available for free from today until August 20th. Considering it’s free, your friends have no choice but to download it, unless their PC can’t run the game. That’s a pretty decent reason, I suppose.
A hybrid of third person shooter and action RPG, with more than a passing resemblance to Dark Souls (I know, cardinal sin making the Dark Souls comparison), Remnant: From The Ashes sees players explore a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by demonic creatures. You can team up with two other friends to tackle these beasts together in an attempt to rebuild what was lost. Also free this week is The Alto Collection, a gorgeous endless runner with over 120 levels.
We reviewed Remnant: From The Ashes when it launched last year, and while it’s nowhere near a perfect game, we found plenty to love in this co-op adventure:
Remnant: From the Ashes is this year’s definitive sleeper hit. I went into the game with zero expectations and was very impressed with what I found. Not only have Gunfire Games managed to solve Soulslike gameplay with ranged weapons, they also created a world and a narrative that had me genuinely intrigued.
Remnant and The Alto Collection are still listed as coming soon on the Epic Games Store, but we’ll update this article accordingly once both games go live.
