Laure Fauvel Shows You How to Fight the Monster Under Your Bed

You know night time? That part of the day when it all goes dark and you’re supposed to go to sleep to skip forward to the next day?

Sleep is a kind of brain battery charging time machine. How are you supposed to go to sleep though? It’s dark, you’re all alone in that dark, and there’s all sorts of things going bump in the night. . Don’t get me wrong, you’d fucking love to jump to tomorrow when it’s light and safe and day time and you’re no longer alone, but you can’t get to The Land of fucking Nod when there’s a fucking monster under your bed. You know when you go to sleep that fucker’s coming out to tear you apart. FUCK. THAT.

Might be how your sweary adult mind remembers trying to get off to sleep. It’s not the way photographer Laure Fauvel wants shit to go down though. No, if 22 year old Fauvel has anything to do with it, those monsters are hoping you go to sleep so they can get the fuck out of there. You see, through Fauvel’s series of photographs entitled Terreurs, the monsters aren’t the scarers. Hell, they’re not even as scared of the kids as they are of them. Through Terreurs, these kids are taking the night back with force. They’re fucking shit up and fuck taking names.

Have a butcher’s at Fauvel’s photos in which she’s got these kids not playing victim, but taking arms and fighting their fears literally.

To the point I feel sorry for the monsters, they are shitting themselves. So, here’s some encouragement to the wee nips frightened of the monsters under their bed, in the dark corners of their room, or their wardrobe; you can fight, and you can win.

Of course, I’m not sure any series of photos will be able to help when they start truly understanding the concept of death, their insignificance in the universe, the idea that every other person in the world thinks as well, the constant threat of World War 3, the possibility that you’re the only real person, the unconquerable fear of both possibilities of afterlife; nothingness and eternity afterlife – an absolute end and non-existence? A second life that goes on forever and never fucking ends? IS THERE NOT A THIRD OPTION?

Though, maybe that was just me…
