Wolfenstein 3: Everything You Should Know

Wolfenstein

It’s been a while since any Wolfenstein-related news hit the media, specifically regarding the third installment of the rebooted series. Although Bethesda’s Pete Hines initially said that Wolfenstein 3 is happening, no such game or updates has been released. This may’ve you questioning if Wolfenstein 3 will still become a reality.

Considering it’s the Wolfenstein franchise, it’s easy to think there’s a chance we’ll see more of B.J. Blazkowicz or his twin daughters from Youngblood, Jessica and Zofiaia Blazkowicz. However, other factors may also delay or halt Wolfenstein 3’s release. To expand further, here’s everything you should know regarding Wolfenstein 3, such as its potential release date, story, and platforms.

When Is Wolfenstein 3 Coming Out?

As of now, there’s no official release date for Wolfenstein 3. The developers, MachineGames, have their hands full since they’re working on a new Indiana Jones game. With all the teasers and updates surrounding the Indiana Jones game, they’ll likely focus on it first before working on Wolfenstein 3.

Furthermore, given the mixed reception of Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Cyberpilot, this might’ve made Bethesda skeptical about continuing with Wolfenstein 3. Still, these are just speculations, and we might see Bethesda and MachineGames develop Wolfenstein 3 in the future, but it’ll take some time.

What Could Wolfenstein 3 Be About?

Wolfenstein 3’s plot hasn’t been officially revealed, so we can only speculate. If Wolfenstein 3 were to be made, it’ll most likely follow the events of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Even though Youngblood is a side story, it moves ahead of the timeline, so Wolfenstein 3 will be its sequel. Wolfenstein 3 will continue where it left off, with our favorite characters preparing to fight the Fourth Reich after killing Juju and Lothar.

However, MachineGames could take a big gamble and have us traverse the multiverse. It was revealed in Youngblood that B.J. was able to see into alternate dimensions using the God Key. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get to play as B.J. battling Nazis in other universes. Again, these are just speculations, so MachineGames and Bethesda could take a different turn.

What Platforms Could Wolfenstein 3 Be On?

When the time comes, Wolfenstein 3 will likely only be released on PC and Xbox. That’s because Microsoft has acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. This means that there’s a high chance that Bethesda games, including Wolfenstein 3, will become Xbox console exclusives.

Who Could Develop Wolfenstein 3?

Right now, MachineGames are the ones set to develop Wolfenstein 3. They’re the ones responsible for the Wolfenstein reboot in 2014, and they’ve been handling the IP’s games ever since. You might also know them from Quake since they made the mission packs Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine.

However, considering the backlash of the recent games, ZeniMax or Bethesda could pass the torch to another developer. But currently, there are no announcements made regarding developer changes, so we’ll just have to wait and see what direction the studio goes.
