It’s hard to forget when The Rising of the Shield Hero broke the internet with its 60-minute pilot. Anything topping that seemed hard to believe, but award-winning mangaka Aka Akasaka’s Oshi No Ko anime adaptation left otakus dumbfounded with a 90-minute first episode. Despite having only a single episode at the time, the anime managed to dethrone Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for a little bit from the best anime of all time spot before it got pushed back to nineteenth place itself.

All the same, that’s a big achievement, and one that both the fans and production didn’t let go unnoticed. Oshi No Ko: Season 2 has officially been announced to be in the works. The good news came after the season finale finished airing, and noting how quickly the anime was renewed, you should anticipate a swift return.

When Is Oshi No Ko: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, Oshi No Ko: Season 2 has not received a release date. The teaser and official website announcement which confirmed the second season to be in development did not mention when would see the anime again, however, with the renewal being this quick, 2024 easily fits the bill.

Hell’s Paradise: Season 2 was also recently confirmed to be in development. That’s another renewal from the Spring 2023 anime line-up, though it’ll be a while before we see Gabimaru on-screen again. That’s because MAPPA in comparison to Oshi No Ko’s Studio Doga Kobo is quite busy with its other shows. That said, Doga Kobo should be prioritizing Oshi No Ko: Season 2, so hopefully, it’ll feel like Aquamarine and the gang never left.

What Is Oshi No Ko: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

All of the events up to the fourth arc of the manga have been covered in Season 1, so in Oshi No Ko: Season 2, things will pick up from the fifth arc, 2.5D Stage Play. The general plot remains the same as before with Aqua trying to locate his father so that he can avenge his mother’s death, but like always, things keep shuffling around.

The Tokyo Blade stage play adaptation is coming up soon, and a number of new characters join the fray. It becomes tricky for Aqua to navigate with this much happening all around him, but he’s determined to see his plans through.

Which Studio Is Making Oshi No Ko: Season 2?

Oshi No Ko: Season 2 will be animated by Studio Doga Kobo.

Aka Akasaka is also the author of the Kaguya-sama series, another critically acclaimed show which has been regarded as one of the best anime of all time.

Instead of letting Oshi No Ko be animated by Kaguya-sama’s Studio A-1 Pictures, he went with Doga Kobo, which to our surprise, nailed the anime’s adaptation with flying colors. Dogs Kobo is reprising the lead on the anime once again, so don’t worry as the stellar and sparkling visuals aren’t going anywhere.

Where Will Oshi No Ko: Season 2 Be Aired?

You will be able to watch Oshi No Ko: Season 2 exclusively on HIDIVE. In a recent future roadmap, HIDIVE announced that it’ll be streaming a handful of anime exclusively, and besides Aka Akasaka’s musical masterpiece, Spy Classroom‘s second season was the other addition.

That’s a total one-eighty as the first season is currently streaming on many other services including Netflix, and Hulu. Maybe the second season will eventually arrive on other platforms after it finishes airing, however, just to be safe, go with a HIDIVE subscription when the anime returns.
