Free-To-Play Shooter Warface Surprise Launches On Nintendo Switch

The popular shooter already has over eighty million player worldwide.

If you own a Switch, you’re in for a real treat, because the popular multiplayer shooter Warface has now launched on the system. To celebrate the Switch release, an exciting launch trailer was released on the official Warface YouTube channel, which you can check out below.

Originally developed by Crytek, the team behind the Crysis series, before Blackwood Games took over, Warface is a futuristic military shooter which originally launched on PC back in 2013, and has amassed a total of over eighty million players since then. The free-to-play shooter includes playable classes such as Medic, Sniper, and Rifleman, and despite the futuristic setting, most of your weapons will be realistic firearms which you’ll be able to upgrade.

Gameplay modes include raids, deathmatches, and Plant the Bomb, and there are over fifty stages, ranging from abandoned warehouses all the way to Mars. Blackwood are also constantly adding new content to the game, so you can expect to be playing this until humans really do arrive on Mars, if that ever happens. Due to its wealth of content and gameplay features, it’s easy to understand why Warface has become one of the most popular shooters on the market today.

Interestingly, Warface is also the first ever game on the Switch to use the CryEngine, and as you can see from the launch trailer, it looks incredible from a visual standpoint. While publisher MY.Com clearly did not feel the need to promote the Switch release and instead opted for a surprise launch, the popularity of Warface on other systems means there is a strong possibility that it could also develop a dedicated following on Nintendo’s hybrid system.
