UPDATE (19/11/2019): Following on from the rumours that did the rounds yesterday, Valve have confirmed the existence of Half-Life: Alyx, with a grand reveal scheduled for this Thursday at 10am Pacific, so 6pm GMT.

While other details of the leaked transcript are still unconfirmed, like the supposed March 2020 release date or Geoff Keighley reviving his The Final Hours video series, the transcript has suddenly become a lot more legit. We’ll find out more in just a few days.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: According to rumours that are circulating around the internet today, Valve could be set to announce a VR-only Half-Life title, named Half-Life: Alyx, that’s set to be the flagship game for Valve’s Index VR headset.

The rumours have been kickstarted by a supposedly leaked interview transcript that’s set to be broadcast during The Game Awards on December 12th. While this could simply be someone playing an elaborate joke, the leaker apparently outed the existence of Dota Underworlds, so there could be legitimacy to this leak. It’s worth noting that the transcript linked above has since been altered to state that they’ve taken down the information due to PC Gamer’s reporting on the story, but the transcript is now available on Pastebin.

The interview will see Geoff Keighley talk to Robin Walker, a game designer at Valve, and another unnamed developer about the project, discussing topics like why they’re making a Half-Life game now, why it’s VR and what the game will entail. Apparently Half-Life: Alyx is slated for a March 2020 release, and Geoff will also be releasing a new episode in The Final Hours series, where he’ll be deep diving into the development of Alyx, similar to his videos on Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Portal.

While it would be wise to take this news with the heaviest pinch of salt in the universe, Valve did promise a flagship VR title to accompany the launch of the Index, and there would be no better flagship than Half-Life.
