Top 10 Most Tearjerking Films for Guys

4. Saving Private Ryan

Is it the face? Is it the curly hair? How about the fact that he looks like your dad? There must be a reason why we guys always choke up when Tom Hanks is around with this third entry in our top 10 being the saddest one yet.

Captain Miller is a complex, fascinating character who is just an everyday Joe fighting the good fight. By being one of the most relatable commanding officers to make it to the big screen, his toils and travails to make the right choice are captivating.

So of course he had to go and die.

The effects of war are plain to see on Miller as his hand trembles throughout the film so as he utters his finally words”earn this”, to the saved Private Ryan and takes his last breath, the image of his still, peaceful hand is a powerful one.

3. Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3

Incinerators are primarily good at two things: 1) burning official political documentation and 2) making all young adults fear for the mortality of animated toys.

The Toy Story series has been enjoyed and loved by nineties and early noughties kids as it is regarded as one of Pixar’s very best. What better way to finish off a trilogy than by sending all of the toys to their doom?

For a little while, you really think that they will actually go through with it and be really evil bastards. The toys seem to accept their fate and join hands, cueing plenty of tears. After remembering that this is a kid’s film, the toys are then hoisted to safety to a sigh of relief.
