Top 10 Most Tearjerking Films for Guys

2. The Elephant Man

Not an obvious choice this one, mainly because it’s as if not enough people have watched it despite its stature as a classic.

John Hurt’s performance as The Elephant Man himself, John Merrick, is one of the best ever committed to the big screen and if you are yet to experience it, it’s a work of art.

Hurt immersed himself in the role as the disabled and deformed Merrick and played the visually unappealing character so well that you find yourself looking past his imperfections and to the person underneath soon after his first appearance.

With all the health issues Merrick suffered from and his deteriorating condition from the film’s beginning, the audience is fully aware that he doesn’t have much time left. But that doesn’t stop the opera scene from being absolutely emotionally destructive.
