One of the most important parts of your journey in Starfield is your spaceship, the tool you’ll need to travel across planets, haul cargo and, perhaps most importantly, store all the various resources you’ll find in your travels. How else are you going to complete research projects, create the industrial parts you need for your outposts and craft those all important weapon and spacesuit upgrades? Knowing where and when you can upgrade your ship though isn’t immediately clear, however, which is why we’ve put together a handy guide of where you can go to upgrade your ship in Starfield.
Starfield Ship Upgrade Locations Explained
In order to upgrade your ship, you’ll need to be docked at the spaceport for any of the major settlements in the game. Once you’ve docked, speak to a ship technician near to the Spaceport and select the option to view and modify your ships. Here, you can choose which ship you’d like to use as your home ship, and individually change and edit different modules on your ship to upgrade the hull, engines, weapons and other important aspects of your ship.
The best places to upgrade your ship include the following locations:
– New Atlantis (Jemison, Alpha Centauri System)
– Cydonia (Mars, Sol System)
– Neon (Volli Alpha, Volli System)
– Hopetown (Polvo, Valo System)
– Akila City (Akila, Cheyenne System)
– Paradiso (Porrima II, Porrima System)
This isn’t a definitive list of ship upgrade areas, as there are plenty of other settlements, spaceports and ship technicians to find across the Settled Systems. However, these areas are likely to be some of the first you’ll encounter on your journey throughout Starfield, so it’s good to keep a note of these locations when you’re in the market for a new ship engine or even cargo hold.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X & S.
