Romantic Killer is a romantic comedy anime that had its first season released by Netflix. Adapted from the short manga series by Wataru Momose, it follows the female protagonist, Anzu Hoshino. Obsessed with video games, chocolate, and her cat, Anzu isn’t interested in pursuing romance. That all changes when she meets Riri, a Cupid-esque wizard who confiscates all the things she enjoys. Without any distractions, Riri tells her that if she gets into a relationship, her games, chocolate, and cat will be returned to her. Anzu hesitantly agrees to this, if only to get her stuff back. However, along the way, she starts to form emotional connections with her romance candidates.
Romantic Killer was one of the more popular anime releases to come out of Netflix in 2022. It stands out from other anime within the romantic comedy genre because it also descends into dark territory while still being uplifting and funny. When the show concluded, fans got left on an ominous cliffhanger with Kate going to act as a cupid for Yukana, Tsukasa’s stalker who attacked Anzu. With Anzu’s quest incomplete, Romantic Killer: Season 2 would be nice to give the fans some closure and see which of the boys she might end up with.
When Is Romantic Killer: Season 2 Being Released?
As of the time of writing this, there has been no official news about a second season for Romantic Killer. Netflix and DOMERICA have said nothing about whether Anzu’s love quest will continue.
So far, the possibility of Romantic Killer: Season 2 being released looks unlikely. With the manga author not saying anything for or against continuing Romantic Killer in manga form, Netflix would have to make the decision if they wanted to continue the series themselves or just leave it where it is.
That doesn’t mean it’s been cancelled, though.
What Is Romantic Killer: Season 2 About?
This is also hard to tell as well. Unlike other manga adaptations, Romantic Killer was completed in 2020 and only ever had four volumes, and Season 1 essentially covered the content of those volumes. That leaves the anime creators with two options.
The first one is they wait for Momose to continue the story, and they follow that. However, Momose hasn’t said anything about continuing the manga plot either. The second is that they make their own unique storyline. Either way, while following Anzu and her developing relationships with her romance candidates, it would also follow Kate trying to find romance options for Yukana, which could potentially cause problems for our heroine and her friends.
Which Studio Is Making Romantic Killer: Season 2?
Romantic Killer is an anime that is produced by Netflix, while the studio that animated the show is DOMERICA. While DOMERICA has animated some other anime like Flying Witch Petit and The World Ends with You, Romantic Killer is their most successfully received project yet.
Where Will Romantic Killer: Season 2 Be Aired?
Currently, if you want to watch Romantic Killer: Season 1, the only available option is to stream it on Netflix. If it does get renewed, Romantic Killer: Season 2 would also likely come to Netflix.
