There aren’t many bigger changes in Resident Evil 4 Remake than what Capcom have done to knives. While the knife was always useful in the original, it wasn’t nearly as important as it is in the remake, with it even able to deflect chainsaw attacks. But knives don’t last forever and need to be repaired so that you don’t end up depending on them too much.

To repair knives in Resident Evil 4, you need to talk to the Merchant and select Tune Up, then select Repair on any of the knives that need repairing. The amount that it’s broken determines how expensive repairs will be. You can unlock the Leon w/ Handgun charm to take 30% off knife repairs by earning high scores in Shooting Practice and redeeming your tokens at the nearby machine.

Bear in mind that the Kitchen Knife and Boot Knife cannot repaired and will instead just be discarded from your inventory once broken. You can also unlock the Primal Knife by collecting all Clockwork Castellans, which can be then be upgraded to eventually become indestructible.

Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S.
