Remnant 2: The Awakened King – How To Unlock The Sparkfire Shotgun

The Awakened King is the first of 3 DLCs announced for Remnant 2 that offer a vast array of new weapons to discover. One such weapon is the Sparkfire Shotgun, which is the starter weapon for the Ritualist class. If you begin a new game after unlocking that Archetype, you’ll have the choice to use the Ritualist and his accompanying weapons. However, finding this weapon as any other class isn’t as straightforward as you might think, and it’ll take some know-how or some luck to grab it.

This is what you need to know to unlock the Sparkfire Shotgun in Remnant 2: The Awakened King.

To start, you’ll want to head over to the Derelict Lighthouse area, which is several areas deep into the DLC if you’re playing in adventure mode. Progress through the area until you come across a warehouse. You can recognise it by the two large chimneys protruding out of the building. It can be found before the lighthouse in a big area with lots of winding walkways and enemies.

Go inside, and you’ll be greeted by two mini-bosses who can be challenging, so come prepared. Once you’ve taken both out, they’ll drop a lighthouse key, but the item itself is part of the puzzle.

This key can open one of two doors inside the lighthouse, and only one of them houses the Sparkshot Shotgun. When you approach the lighthouse, make a sharp left and follow the path that will take you underneath. You’ll find a locked door that can be opened with the key you picked up earlier. You’ll have to inspect the key in your menu and interact with the end piece, which will flip over the key, revealing a different tip. It’s this side that unlocks the basement door, and doing so will reward you with the Sparkfire Shotgun.

Since the key opens two doors, the default side opens the door above the lighthouse, and the flipped key opens the door below. As mentioned previously, you can only open one of these doors in a single playthrough, and you will need to reroll a second time to make the choice again.

Behind the upper-floor door is an item called the Lighthouse Keeper’s Ring. The ring’s passive ability generates 3 mod power every second for each enemy within 10m that’s suffering from a negative status effect. This can stack up to 5 times, which is a great pairing with the Ritualist for those looking to try out the new Archetype.

Sparkfire Shotgun Breakdown

The shotgun itself is rather fun and is exceptionally punishing when all the pellets hit the target. Each shell inflicts burning over 6 seconds, which is great for chipping away at a boss’s or elite enemy’s health.

The weapon has no slotted mod slot, so you’re free to choose one that works for you. If you’re a bit of a pyromaniac, the Firestorm mod is a fun choice. You can get Firestorm from the Red Prince, a boss from base game Losomn, who will drop an item that can be converted to the mod in Ward 13. Not only will you have fire-inflicting shots, but you can also conjure up a fire tornado to chip away at your enemies.

If you want to take full advantage of the Ritualist, apply a mod that dishes out a different negative status effect, even if it’s as simple as a corrosive shot.

Remnant 2: The Awakened King is available now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
