Quantum Break Becomes Xbox One’s Biggest IP Yet

Quantum break

Quantum Break is now Microsoft’s biggest selling new IP of this generation. It managed to hit no. 1 spots the world over, but the sales figures weren’t quite as high as either Remedy or Microsoft will have hoped with Eurogamer reporting that less than 150 units separated it from the no. 2 spot.

Xbox Studios senior category manager Joe Edney had this to say:

“We’re delighted that Quantum Break has been so well received by fans and critics, it’s a testament to the hard work, ambition and commitment of the team at Remedy that the game is already surpassing expectations. The game has already built up a passionate fanbase and we look forward to seeing and hearing about their experiences in Riverport”

And to say it is the biggest selling new IP is faint praise at best, with the only other real contenders being Ryse: Son of Rome and Sunset Overdrive. When the real sales figures are finally released, it will be interesting to see exactly how many units were shifted in comparison to Microsoft’s other big franchises such as Forza and Halo. But it is still great to see an original game with such an original spin on media content doing so well in a world where everything is a sequel.

Also speaking of sequels, with such great early sales figures, Quantum Break 2 is looking like a decent prospect.
