It’s almost crazy that Sony are so accepting of cross-play these days after previously being so seemingly against it for so many years. With the release of their new console, there’s no shortage of PS5 cross-play games that will let you play with friends despite being on other platforms.
Well, “no shortage” in comparison to the launch of the PS4 at least. There’s still a long way to go to make cross-play standard for every single multiplayer game from day one, but the cross-play games on PS5 so far represent a good start.

Don’t forget that you can still play all your PS4 cross-play games on PS5 as well via backwards compatibility, which opens up a tonne more possibilities. You will be able to use your DualSense for all of those games.

Do I Need PlayStation Plus For PS5 Cross-Play?
PlayStation Plus is only required for paid multiplayer games. For example: you will need it for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but not for Call of Duty: Warzone, which is a free-to-play game.
How Do I Talk To Everyone Via PS5 Cross-Play?
As there’s no Discord integration or anything similar on PS5 (yet), you will have to either use Discord via a PC or mobile or resort to using in-game chat. It’s not ideal, but it’s the best you can get until Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo work out some kind of uniform solution.
