PS4 Exclusive God of War’s New CG Trailer Is Pretty Great

God of War PS4

I am usually pretty split on using CG trailers to sell games. While they can be misleading (Dead Island, looking at you here), if they capture the spirit of the game while also getting across the kinds of themes you will be experiencing, I’m all for them. God of War’s new trailer is one of those examples.

Premiering last night during a Family Guy ad break (why?), the new God of War trailer shows Kratos and his son, Arteus, destroying a whole lot of uglies. It’s simply done, showing how Arteus goes from being a useless boy to an invaluable combat partner for Kratos.

What I like most about it is the arrow whizzing through the whole thing, a nice little consistent image that shows the progress Arteus is making. I also won’t say no to a bit of the ol’ ultraviolence, so I was in my element when Kratos elbowed a beast out of existence.

It’s just a hype trailer, but it looks like it’s done its job on me at least. I’ve been following God of War pretty closely since it was first revealed, so here’s hoping it actually delivers when it lands on April 20th exclusively for PS4.
