Pokémon GO Fourth Anniversary Event – Week 1: Ducklett, Flying Pikachu & More

The first week of challenges.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO has been around for four years now, if you can believe it, and to celebrate their birthday, Niantic has got a 3 week long birthday party planned, ending in Pokémon GO Fest 2020. Each week has a different theme and challenge, and the first week is based around skill. Completing these challenges will mean extra special Pokémon appearing at GO Fest, so make sure to get out there and finish all the Timed Research available.

There’s a number of additions to the game for the Fourth Anniversary event, that will be live for the whole three weeks. These include:

Flying-type Pokémon and Pokémon in party hats will be appearing more frequently in the wild, hatching from eggs and available to battle in raids. Shiny Pidove will also be available in game for the first time.
Ducklett, the water bird Pokémon, is making its debut in the game, and will be available in the wild as well as raids. Ducklett is a dual water/flying type and evolves into Swanna.
Flying Pikachu will also be available in game, in the wild and raids, and will also have its Shiny form available too.
– Make sure to take a snapshot in-game during the event as well, for a surprise that is yet to be revealed.

The first week of the event runs from July 3rd 8am until July 8th at 10pm local time, and will consist of three sets of tasks in a Skill Timed Research challenge that will reward you with a Ducklett, a Flying Pikachu and a Star Piece, along with other bonuses. If this is completed by 1 million people from each team, then we’ll be rewarded with three extra Pokémon at GO Fest. For Instinct it is Chimecho, Mystic is Alomomola and Valor is Chansey. If these challenges are completed by the trainer, then you’ll have to access to an Elite Skill Challenge, which feature some extra difficult tasks.

Make sure to complete this Timed Research before the end of the first week, and get ready for week two on July 10th.

Pokémon Go is a mobile game available for iOS and Android that lets you battle and catch Pokémon in the real world, and then fight and trade them with friends.
