Walk in the day, sleep at night. We're expecting Pokemon Diet next.

Pokemon Sleep

Those people who are upset that sleep has to get in the way of their love of Pokemon are in luck. The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have revealed that they are hard at work on a new app known as Pokemon Sleep. It will track users during the night, logging how much sleep they get and then use that data to inform how the game plays. While details are sparse at the moment it is known that it will be coming to mobile devices in 2020.

Pokemon Company chief executive Tsunekazu Ishihara said that the team are looking to “turn sleep into entertainment” with the app. With Pokemon Go receiving plenty of praise for encouraging people to get outside to do some exercise, it looks like Nintendo is looking to get more involved in the health and lifestyle market. One of the aims of Pokemon Sleep is to “reward good sleep habits as part of a healthy lifestyle.”

The app will be jointly developed by both Niantic and Select Button. Niantic have plenty experience having developed the hugely popular Pokemon Go. Select Button have also worked with the franchise, being responsible for making the mobile game Magikarp Jump.

The announcement came during a press conference that spilled the beans on everything Pokemon that will be releasing in the near future. Fans can look forward to getting their hands on a brand new Detective Pikachu game for the Nintendo Switch that will follow the story of the original 3DS game in addition to a mobile game called Pokemon Masters.

Nintendo will also be creating a new app for smartphones in the form of Pokemon Home. It will allow players to manage their monsters and trade them with friends after they have been imported from any of the supported games.
