One of Netflix’s smash hits of last year was the four-part anime series Castlevania. The adaptation of one of Konami’s iconic franchises wowed viewers with its wonderful animation, great story and brilliant fight scenes. Even our own Cassie loved watching it. Fans have been waiting patiently for a release date on a second season, but today we’ve finally got confirmation.

During the Netflix panel at Anime Expo 2018, it was confirmed that Castlevania Season 2 would be launching on Netflix on October 26th, which is the same day as Red Dead Redemption 2. Guess you’ll have something to watch while you wait for the game to install.

The second season will be twice the length of the first season, with 8 episodes in total. Richard Armitage returns as premier vampire slayer Trevor Belmont, along with comic book writer Warren Ellis who wrote the first season. Armitage also leaked the existence of a third season last month. In an interview with Digital Spy, he said: “We’re about to record a third. The second season hasn’t been aired yet, but we’re about to do a third.” Seems like we won’t have to wait over a year for the next season then.

Also confirmed during the panel was a second season of Aggretsuko, the anime about a death metal loving red panda named Retsuko. Just like Castlevania, we bloody loved that as well, so here’s hoping that the second season of both shows live up to the strong standards of the first.
