Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remaster Unavailable On Russian PlayStation Store

Can't imagine why...

Modern Warfare 2

Yesterday, Activision released the campaign remaster for Modern Warfare 2 in a move that surprised literally no-one. The remaster was revealed to be a PS4 timed exclusive, with PC and Xbox One versions launching on April 30th, but one region that won’t be able to play on PS4 is Russia, as Sony have made the decision not to release the game on the Russian PSN store.

The news was broken by the Russian Call of Duty Twitter account, who stated the following: “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is a completely fictional 2009 campaign, recreated in HD quality. SIE decided not to sell the game in the Russian PS Store. We look forward to the release of the game in digital form for the PC [via] Battle.net and on Xbox consoles.”

The tweet confirms that MW2 Remastered will still be available on PC and Xbox One, so it’s not like the entire region is completely losing out on a game, but the news is hardly surprising. Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t exactly portray Russia in the most positive light. That infamous No Russian level springs to mind. On top of that, the more recent Modern Warfare was also pulled from Russia’s PlayStation Store, so it makes sense that trend would continue.
