Meet Your Maker: The Floor Is Lava Achievement/Trophy Guide

As you’d expect from a game that gives you a grappling hook, Meet Your Maker has an optional achievement/trophy called The Floor Is Lava which is obtained by staying off the ground for a certain amount of time. While the premise of the challenge sounds simple enough, actually earning the trophy can be a bit of a pain, thanks to Meet Your Maker’s reliance on User Generated Content for all of its levels. Still, obtaining the trophy is great if you know what you’re looking for.

The actual requirements for the achievement/trophy The Floor Is Lava are as follows: “As a raider, stay off the ground for longer than 60 seconds.”

Naturally, using the grapple hook liberally is the key to earning this achievement, but the layout of the outpost is just as important. Your grapple hook can only be attached to a wall for about five seconds before it automatically detaches, which leads to some problems on low-elavation outposts. The building system in place with Meet Your Maker involves builders placing cubes all over the map, but if the outpost only has walls that are one or two cubes high, you’ll likely touch the floor again in the time between the grapple hook detaching and reattaching.

Instead, try and find an outpost that features big rooms with high ceilings. Here, you can use your grapple hook to cling to the ceiling, reattaching safely to another ceiling tile before the hook detaches and you plummet to the floor below. Repeat this process for 60 seconds and you should earn the achievement/trophy. Also, make sure you clean out the room of traps and guards first, as the game’s one-hit kill damage system will ensure that any stray damage will end your run before it even begins.
