LITTLE NIGHTMARES 2 CHAPTERS: Wilderness | School | Hospital | Pale City | Transmission

Pale City is the fourth chapter of Little Nightmares 2, following on from Hospital.

Walk out of the elevator and then right out of reception. Just keep on walking through the streets until you reach what sounds like a loudspeaker in an apartment building. Climb the stairs until you arrive at an open door, in which a zombie-like citizen called a Viewer will crash through the ceiling before running headfirst into a television in the next room. Climb on the TV then out of the window.

Ascend the ladder and then leap across to the adjacent building. Creep past two Viewers who are hypnotised by televisions until you arrive in a new room with a leaky ceiling. Walk into the bathroom, try not to get weirded out by the citizen in the bath watching television and then move through the vent to an elevator shaft. Jump on top of the elevator and to the other side, then into the elevator itself. Pull the lever and jump to the right; Six will go to the top floor but be locked in.

Climb through the hole and then the adjacent “scaffolding”, leaping to the other side so that Mono ends up on the same floor as Six and the elevator. Walk to the left and then pull upon a drawer in the desk to find the key to unlock the elevator door.

Unlock the elevator door and then Six will walk over to a lever right beside it. Go into the elevator and pull the lever and then quickly jump out to send it down, then use the lever that Six is gesturing to for a leg up. As it’s coming back up, jump on top of the elevator to get a ride to the next floor. Pull the box to the left out of the way and then crawl through the vents to find another Glitching Remains. Travel right over the plank and find yourself out on the roof.

Take a second to gaze upon the giant transmission tower and then proceed right, jumping over the gap. To claim some Glitching Remains, use the boxes to climb into a small hut where vermin are caged. Otherwise, climb the fencing near the door and then go up a level. Continue right and then accept Six’s leg up onto a platform and then rotate the wheel so that the coathanger on a pulley is close enough for Six to grab. Rotate the wheel the opposite way to send her over the gap, then run and jump and catch her hand to land on the fire escape.

Traverse the ladders of the fire escape with Six’s help and then climb through a window. It’s time to run as the building is collapsing. Just keep pushing right until the building catches up to you, then watch on as the debris falls on top of Six and you plummet. Luckily, your flashlight is the only casualty as you are able to pull Six out of the wreckage and then use her help to open a door to the right.

Continue down the hallway and then walk into the room on the right. Approach the TV and do the same thing you’ve done a couple of times to date, moving the left stick until the screen resonates white. On the third one, Mono will once again be transported to a familiar hallway, but this time he will be able to open the door — and then wish he hadn’t. The Thin Man lies in wait.

Six will pull Mono out just in time, but The Thin Man isn’t giving up. He will clamber out of the TV, so dash back up the hallway and then hide under the bed in the room on the right. Tragically, The Thin Man will snatch Six, leaving a Glitching Remains behind.

Move back to the TV from earlier and you will be teleported, a new mechanic in the game. Climb up the rickety books and chairs and then go through another TV until you arrive out on a roof. Use the pulley system to move the TV over the gap to the right, then leap and hold onto the door handle on the left. Use the same TV you did earlier and then find yourself teleported over the gap.

Follow the platforms to the right until you reach a new apartment complex with a whole bunch of TVs. Drop down and then pick up the TV remote — this will work similarly to the flashlight. Walk up to the TV and then press circle/B to turn on the TV, walk through the TV to a higher floor and drop down into a new room. Drop down again and then crawl through the vent, pulling the huge trolley between the gap overhead. Turn the TV on to the right to be teleported back to where you were before, then leap over the small gap by holding on to the light fixture. Clamber over the chair and desk before using the trolley you moved earlier to get over the gap. Use the coat hanger to then zipline into a new apartment.

Push open the door and notice the Viewer stood at the TV. Move right into the kitchen, approach the counter nearest the window and then use your remote to turn the TV outside on. Go back to the doorway near the Viewer, use the remote again and then hide. The Viewer will then move into the kitchen, allowing you to go through the TV they were just at and out onto a roof. Climb up until you find another Viewer staring at a television. Turn the TV on that’s across the gap then turn theirs off to send them hurtling down. Turn their TV back on then using it to get across before using a zipline.

Move right past one of the most unsettling images ever, then drop down into a new room with a plush chair. Clamber out of the window and push the TV off the ledge. Go back inside then teleport through the TV. Continue right and then pry the boards off the door, running back to a lever in a little enclave that can be used to electrocute the Viewer who comes steaming in.

A small elevator puzzle is up next, though it’s not too tricky with a guide. Make sure the TV is on, then travel down through the chute on the right, jumping up and down on the garbage to dislodge it. Pull the big case towards the lever on the bottom floor and then use it to pull the lever. Get in the elevator and use the elevator inside all the way to the top. Once there, pull the lever again to go back down but then quickly use the TV inside to go back to the top floor. Drop down the shaft, landing on top of the moving elevator and then jump through the missing doors to proceed.

Walk right and find yourself in a bathroom with a bit of an electricity problem. Jump onto the dry section and then turn the TV off to cause the Viewer to come hunting, run back into the bathroom and jump on the toilet again to electrocute them, short-circuiting the room. Go back in the room, drag the stool to the door on the right and then drop into the alleyway.

Jump through the window on the right and drag the trolley on the right of the room to the ramp on the left, giving you a platform to jump onto and then down onto the floor and into a small room. Clamber atop the desk, then the dresser, and make your way through the vents. Drop down and pull the lever to turn off the electricity before jumping back down and then taking the trolley to the right side of the room for another platform. Get back to the lever to turn the electricity on again, then clamber up onto the upper wood section, then back to the middle island before jumping onto the trolley and eventually into the television to be transported to a dark room.

Climb on the TV and then through the window. In the alley, turn on the TV within the shop then turn off the one the two Viewers are already watching to draw them away. Turn the first TV back on to teleport through it, starting a chase sequence. Just keep running right and jumping over obstacles until you reach a TV to teleport through. You will then come across a special TV, one that contains Six. As you attempt to pull her out, The Thin Man will reappear.

Quickly grab the axe and then smash through the door, climbing up the boards and then into floorboards. Beware The Thin Man as he looks through the large gaps in the floorboards, slinking right whenever you can. Continue on slowly until you reach a hallway, grab the stool and push it to the table on the right, then tear the boards off the window and make your way through. Sprint through the train until you can leap and pull a lever to open a door, through which you can pull another lever to detach the carriage and make your escape from The Thin Man.

A battered Mono will lurch forward at the behest of what seems to be a Glitching Six, all the way up a ladder and back on street level, where they will finally confront The Thin Man. Just like the TV sections, you have to match your left stick to where The Thin Man is the whitest, or you can just follow the direction of his hand. Keep at it and The Thin Man will eventually be vanquished, leaving Mono to straighten out the crooked street.

A door will eventually open, walk through into the pink mist and complete Pale City, the fourth chapter of Little Nightmares 2.
