Though it may seem like your battle with The Atoned in Lies of P is a foregone conclusion, the mini-boss can actually be avoided based on your dialogue choices. Still, if you’re here, we reckon that you’ve said the wrong thing and are stuck fighting her. That’s okay, we’re going to help you sort this lady out in a hurry.
All the same, this battle isn’t half as bad as some that you’ve already completed by this point in the game, so it’s really just all down to picking a good strategy in terms of your approach and watching for how she moves and telegraphs her attacks. Fortunately for you, if you’re struggling with The Atoned, we’re going to lay it all out for you below.
Though this Lies of P mini-boss seems quick, she actually leaves a nice big window between some of her attacks. Utilizing a slower-paced weapon with the electrified club, we were able to get fully charged-up heavy strikes off on her repeatedly while barely taking a hit. You just have to be careful that you don’t get overconfident because she can punish you quickly if you do.
Forget about perfect guards or guarding in general unless you’re really confident in your abilities here. Just about every attack The Atoned launches can be handily dodged away from. Even her red charge attack has a relatively small radius, giving you more than enough room to get out of its short range.
One thing that you need to watch for, though, is her propensity for decay attacks. She has a very speedy poison-throwing technique that can be a real problem for you if it hits P too much. Furthermore, the last thing you want to be doing in the middle of a boss fight is scrolling through for a resistance ampoule while you run from The Atoned.
Aside from that, all that you have to do is watch her swing speed and capitalize on the gap between her attacks. She has a few quicker swing moves, particularly a four-in-a-row horizontal swing that can take you out in a hurry. Still, for the most part, this is just a mini-boss that you have to get a feel for.
Once again, however, if you’re getting desperate, don’t feel too bad about going for a cheap backstab or two, and remember that status effect weapons and a few jabs from your trusty arm are your friends here.
Lastly, though The Atoned can be staggered, by the time you get her to that point, she will likely already be close to death. With that in mind, don’t push yourself too hard to stagger her during the window if you’re not sure what she’s going to do next. Slow and steady is the way to victory here.
