At the start of 2022, rumors about a Kaiju No. 8 anime being under discussion had been spurring like wildfire. The manga was an instant hit ever since its first chapter released, just like Chainsaw Man was, and now with there being over 80 of them published, fans needed any news of an adaptation to latch onto.

The rumors are fortunately true, and there indeed is a Kaiju No. 8 anime in the works right now. Loads of information regarding the adaptation have been dropping from time to time, so here’s everything about it that you need to know.

When Is Kaiju No. 8 Anime Coming Out?

UPDATE: A new trailer for the anime dropped recently and it confirmed that the Kaiju No. 8 anime is scheduled to release in April 2024.

ORIGINAL STORY: A teaser trailer for the Kaiju No. 8 anime confirmed that it’ll be released sometime in 2024. The exact date, however, remains to be revealed but until then, fans can have a wicked sneak peek at Kafka Hibino’s Kaiju form being officially animated for the first time ever.

The manga has sold over 11 million copies as of 2023, which is an astonishingly high number that’ll peak tenfold once the anime debuts and puts on a craze among otakus worldwide.

What Is Kaiju No. 8 Anime About? (Spoiler Alert)

The Kaiju No. 8 anime will entail the story of Kafka Hibino, a Kaiju clean-up crew worker turned hybrid Kaiju superhuman who’ll now do more than just sit and watch other people take action — Chainsaw Man, is that you?

The story is principally set in a world where monsters known as Kaijus wreak havoc, and Japan’s practically ground zero for these attacks. Luckily, task forces are assigned to stop these threats, and Mina Ashiro, Kafka’s childhood friend, just so happens to be one of the leading officers. Now with Kafka becoming a Kaiju, he keeps his powers a secret and enrolls in the division Mina is in, but as you might’ve guessed already, things soon go to hell, and the jig is up, and that later leads to many many twists and turns in this pleasant fantasy adventure.

Which Studio Is Making Kaiju No. 8 Anime?

The Kaiju No. 8 anime couldn’t have landed itself a better production studio as Production I.G is right up there when it comes to quality. MAPPA, Ufotable, and CloverWorks are pretty popular right now, but Production I.G’s on-point animation with Psycho-Pass and Haikyuu!! is no joke.

The teaser trailer for the anime didn’t include all that many animated panels from the manga, but from those that were, a grim yet colorful tone could be seen in the art style, and that’s perfect considering how the manga’s plot plays out.

Where Will Kaiju No. 8 Anime Be Aired?

There’s currently no word on where the Kaiju No. 8 anime will be streaming, but nevertheless, Crunchyroll remains the safest service to bet on. Netflix too might have the anime available later, although, that’ll likely be after it finishes airing since Chainsaw Man too arrived after completion.

Details about the Kaiju No. 8 anime aren’t much to look at, but that’s acceptable considering how far out it still is. While that might seem like an unbearable wait, it provides a perfect opportunity to read the manga and get yourself pumped up till the anime’s official release.
