A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Pokémon Sword would be getting an exclusive Pokémon in the form of the Galarian specifc evolution of Farfetch’d, Sirfetch’d. Today, the Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced that Pokémon Shield will get its own exclusive Pokémon, Galarian Ponyta was revealed to the world. Spoiler alert, it looks adorable, but you can see that for yourself in the trailer below.
Looking like the most fabulous unicorn in existence, Ponyta is a psychic type that draws energy from the world around it. It’s said that the Ponyta’s mane will become a lot more colourful in areas where there’s lots of energy to be found, which hopefully means that there’s an even cuter form to be found.
As for abilities, Ponyta possess Pastel Veil, which sounds absolutely ridiculous. A new ability introduced in Sword and Shield, Pastel Veil makes Ponyta and all allied Pokémon immune to becoming poisoned. Furthermore, when Ponyta enters the battlefield, they will immediately cure any afflicted allied Pokémon of their poison. It sounds absolutely overpowered and more than enough reason for you to add Ponyta to your team, not that you needed another reason anyway. Just look how adorable they are.
