With Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 looming and due for release on August 27th, we’re finally beginning to see an event happening to build up the anticipation. Today, August 24th, will see the introduction of Thor’s hammer by the name of Mjolnir.
Leaked ahead of time, this is the first major in-game hint at what to expect from the upcoming season. We’ve already seen a few hints via comic books in the lobby, but nothing substantial on the Fortnite map as of yet, apart from the rift opening above Catty Corner.
From 3PM BST/7AM PT/10 AM ET today with the start of the event, here’s where you can find Thor’s hammer in Fortnite.
Fortnite Thor Hammer Location

Thor’s Hammer is in a bit of an unexpected location for the event, it being just to the south of Salty Springs and to the east of Flopper Pond, the Landmark where you can fish. It’s actually within an intersection of different grid quadrants: C4, C5, D4, and D5.
As for the surroundings, just look for a small cliff right before Salty Springs in a clearing with a tree. A crater has formed directly in the spot we’ve circled in red, and Thor’s hammer is
at the center of it.

Now, as to what to expect, you unfortunately will not actually be able to lift Mjolnir within Fortnite, because you must not be worthy. It seems unlikely that this will ever come to the game, but this is the same game that chucked a bunch of lightsabers at people, after all.
One important thing to note regarding this mini-event: Thor himself won’t be available in-game just yet as he’s not in the game’s files. His real debut will come with the launch of Season 4.
Until then, more pages of a comic book will become available for you to inspect within the Fortnite lobby. What we’ve seen so far seems to suggest that Thor is coming to the island to stop Galactus, who wants to devour it for more power. Thor tries to be friendly to the weirdos of Fortnite island, but it quickly turns sour and he gives Jonesy a big old punch in the face.
This metaverse stuff is all very weird. Apparently everything has been connected all along, but that’s a bit of a stretch when the Fortnite wackiness kicked off over two years ago with the launch of Season 5 and its rifts. It’s doubtful that Donald Mustard and co. have been planning it for that long with constant collaboration with Marvel, but you never know.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
