Fortnite Season 4 Guide: Follow The Greasy Grove Treasure Map

Follow the treasure map in Greasy Grove

As seems to be tradition now, every week sports a Battle Pass challenge focused on finding a hidden treasure, which alternate between following a treasure map and searching between three distinct landmarks. This week’s challenge asks you to find a map in Greasy Grove, decipher the location it shows you (usually a crudely drawn rendition of a location, sometimes with a small twist) and ‘dig’ up that treasure for your Battle Pass tier.

Remember, like every ‘find the treasure’ based challenge (that isn’t a ‘Blockbuster’ one), you can skip straight to the location of the treasure if you already know where it is, bypassing the map step entirely. So if you’re not interested in how the treasure is found – or you’re in a hurry – just skip to the final section of the guide. It will have a picture of the treasure location marked on the map as well as a picture of the treasure itself. For those interested in the whole process, read on.

The treasure map is located in the garbage area of ‘Durrr Burger’, the largest building in Greasy Grove. The garbage area is located on the west side of the building. This appears as B7 on the main map’s grid. The map itself is hidden behind a dumpster with tiny bit of the map poking out from behind it. Simply destroy the dumpster to get a better look.

The map reveals what is essentially a skull with a moustache. The compass needle is also pointed 90 degrees to the left. Usually, this means that the map is rotated in the direction the compass needle is pointing.

This map, however, is different from the usual slew of maps. It isn’t a rendition of landmarks looked at from a bird’s eye view. This skull is actually orientated vertically. Therefore, if you were to simply look at the skull from the west at ground level you’d see an actual skull-esque monument just standing there. Typically speaking, a giant skull protruding from the ground is somewhat hard to miss. Yet, this location still eluded me for a time, that is, until I remember that is one location that resembles a skull type monument. The supervillian base. So head on over there.

The Supervillian’s Treasure

Supervillain's base

The supervillian base is found just northeast of Snobby Shores on the border of B4 and B5 on the main map’s grid. If you’re unfamilair with the supervillian base you can check out our article on that here.

If you view the supervillian base from the west and look up, you’ll see what does indeed resemble a skull (just no moustache, turns out that was the mouth!). The skull is part of the wall, with the wall’s features creating the skull motif. The main windows are the eyes, the garage doors make the mouth and the piece of architecture jutting out in the centre is the nose.

The treasure is located on this centre piece of architecture; the bridge of its nose if you will. Just climb up (or land there) and collect it to complete the challenge.

With the ‘scavenger hunt’ style challenge out of the rotation this week and its replacement being fairly straightforward, this constitutes the only guide worthy challenge for the week. They seemed to have compensated though, making the treasure hunt challenge a little bit more cryptic than usual. The rest of the challenges are of the typical variety: killing, looting and shopping.
