Justice For Fortnite’s Hacivat Skin

There are a lot of skins in Fortnite, and I should know — I’ve covered a lot of them. From the rarest to the worst all the way to the best, there aren’t many skins in the game that I haven’t encountered.

Except for one: Hacivat, often dually known as one of the worst and rarest skins to ever come to Fortnite. In all my years of playing and discussing Fortnite, I’ve never seen him, not once. He’s not even mentioned by anyone in the community. It’s like the skin-tight trousers seen on all the current skins have made people forget that he ever existed. Even at the time of his release, the community seemed to reject him, focusing on his neat glider instead — that’s unacceptable.

First introduced in September 2018, Hacivat has only been in the Fortnite Item Shop four times in total, the last being in December 2018. That’s over two years since Hacivat was last seen, and there’s a high chance that they will never return. An Epic skin that will set you back 1500 V-Bucks, Hacivat only has two stars out of five on progameguides, a resource for checking out skins across Fortnite that’s voted on by fans.

It’s kind of easy to see why, especially with the way the modern Fortnite fan likes their skins: they gotta be slender, they gotta be female, and they gotta look like they’ve just crawled out of the pages of some Adidas catalogue. A guy who’s inspired by an old Turkish shadow play doesn’t really fit the mould and with Epic now having so many skins to rotate in and out, they can hardly be blamed for wanting to focus on what sells: female skins with dumpster truck posteriors.

Nuts to that, I say. I think just about the most refreshing thing in the world would be if a social media campaign was started to bring an obscure, utterly unfashionable skin back into the limelight, giving Hacivat the platform he deserves to do his merry jig.

So, the next time you’re on Twitter, if you could tweet your support with #Justice4Hacivat, we may see our favourite big green weirdo beardo back in the Fortnite Item Shop. If for nothing else, do it because it would be a little bit funny. Think about it: amidst all of the crossovers and boring identikit female skins, someone who looks like a grown-up Link if he worked at the post office getting all the attention would be a good way to shake things up.

Also, again: funny.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
