10 Rarest Fortnite Item Shop Skins

Some of these are...terrible.

Rarest Fortnite Skins

Not every Fortnite skin is a winner. In fact, you could argue that there are just as many that utterly flop in the Item Shop as there are that belong on the front of lunchboxes and all of the tat that Epic love to sell.

Looking at you here, Brite Bomber.

For one reason or other, these rarest Fortnite Item Shop skins haven’t been since in a long time — all of them have actually been out of the Item Shop for well over a year and a half. And I don’t think some of them will ever come back, just because of how many skins Epic now has to rotate in and out for crossovers, promotions, and to basically make as much money as possible by selling skins Fortnite fans are actually clamouring for.

Here, then, are the rarest Fortnite Item Shop skins as of February 2021. Credit to ProGameGuides for the info.

10. Backbone

Last seen: February 28th, 2019

No, not that weird phone console thing all the big YouTubers are shilling. This dude looks like TimTheTatman’s dad. Not a bad skin by any means, but the absolute opposite of skins that the modern Fortnite player likes. Personally, I think it’s kind of neat, but the community appears to have just outright rejected this skin.

9. Devastator

Last seen: February 27th, 2019

I don’t know what went wrong with this one. Not only is Jonesy a brunette, but he also looks like he’s been dressed by his mother whose fashion sense got lost at a mall from the 80s. Devastator is absolutely devastating on the eyeballs and deserves to belong in the Item Shop crypt forever. Urgh, the cutoff vest, what’s gone on here. This isn’t right at all.

8. Tower Recon Specialist

Last seen: February 13th, 2019

This is a joke, right? This has to be. This is literally just a default skin but they moved the colour wheel around on Microsoft Paint and gave her military pants, despite the fact that she would never be allowed in the Army with those cold, dead eyes. Epic have a big thing for restyling favourite skins, but they probably know they took it too far, hence why this hasn’t been back in forever.

7. Kitbash

Last seen: February 11th, 2019

If you want a unique design, you’re not going to get more unique than Kitbash. Basically a robot constructed out of trash, he is a little bulky and is maybe, like, overanimated, which is probably why he’s never picked. You may remember his model being used as a Henchman character at Catty Corner over the course of Chapter 2, but yeah: justice for Kitbash. There are far too many slender female skins, let’s actually celebrate something different for a change.

6. Absolute Zero

Last seen: February 13th, 2019

The female version of the Fearless skin, Absolute Zero gets an absolute zero out of ten, especially as it costs 1200 V-Bucks! Instead of wasting your money on this weird zebra dude who looks like he’s wandered into some kind of rave in antarctica, put those V-Bucks toward something you won’t immediately regret. Like stocks.

5. Hyperion

Last seen: January 30th, 2019

First season right at the start of 2018, Hyperion is the “gladiator of Greasy Grove”, so it kind of makes sense that he hasn’t been seen for ages as Greasy Grove isn’t properly in the game. There’s not really much to say about this skin: it’s decent enough with a cool headband, but Epic’s weird habit of giving male skins cut off sleeves needs to end. Like, it’s not normal. Stop stealing men’s sleeves.

4. Special Forces

Last seen: January 24th, 2019

Another sleeveless male skin, what did I just say? Epic, please, control yourselves or invest in a needle and thread. Just like Hyperion, Special Forces is a decent but not amazing Fortnite Item Shop skin that launched super early on. First seen in November 2017, the only real reason you’d want this skin these days is to flesh out your locker. It’s fine, even if he does look like someone that would get killed off earlier in Resident Evil.

3. Radiant Striker

Last seen: January 11th, 2019

Well thank god we finally have a male skin with sleeves but Radiant Striker is just a…unsettling skin to look at. There’s something about it visually that makes me feel like I am snorting vinegar, think it might be the sleek, tightly fitting disco fabric that makes him kinda look like something you would eat at Christmas, one of the wrappers you’d cast aside as your stomach lurches out and your blood sugar levels scream. Stay where you belong, please.

2. Brilliant Striker

Last seen: January 24th, 2019

The female version of the Radiant Striker skin, Brilliant Striker is the kind of Fortnite skin that gets popular just because it’s rare, not because it’s actually a good skin. Which it isn’t. Yes, it’s certainly a more natural look than its counterpart, but it’s just a recolour of a commonly used model that is completely unremarkable. But it’s also currently the rarest female skin in Fortnite, so people are gonna start demanding its return soon!

1. Hacivat

Last seen: December 15th, 2018

Hacivat is currently the rarest skin in Fortnite and it’s little wonder. He’s not cool looking, modern, or a slender female skin. But I love him. I think just about the funniest thing of all time would be if a social media movement started in which we demand he gets respect from Epic and returns to the Item Shop, outrageous beard and fantastic shoes and all. While originally released to appeal to Turkish players, Hacivat should now appeal to anyone with common sense.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
