“Throw to splash Chrome in the area.”
The Chrome Splash is an Epic item added in Fortnite: Chapter 3 – Season 4.
A throwable item, the Chrome Splash works unlike any other item seen in the game to date. It’s based on the chrome that is currently spreading throughout the island thanks to The Herald.
When thrown at either yourself or teammates, the Chrome Splash will turn the player into chrome. The player can then become a blob when sprinting, making them harder to hit, while also generally becoming immune to fire. In the blob form, players also won’t take any fall damage and also be able to move faster as well as dash in the air.
Here’s what the player looks like when turned to chrome.

The Chrome Splash also works uniquely for building. When you throw it at any building piece (such as a wall), the wall then becomes penetrable, meaning that you can jump through it. Likewise, dashing when a blob will allow you to phase through any building.
Where To Find Chrome Splash
The Chrome Splash can be found wherever loot typically spawns, though may have a higher chance of spawning in Chrome Chests, also new for Season 4.
Along with the EvoChrome Shotgun and Burst Rifle, the Chrome Splash is a new item that drastically changes up the Fortnite meta.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
