Epic always has a way of introducing new mechanics or updating old ones with the launch of each new season of Fortnite. After introducing boss fights all the way back in Chapter 2, we now have perhaps the most intriguing version of them yet with the introduction of Society Medallions in Chapter 5.

Society Medallions can be found by defeating one of the 5 bosses dotted around the Chapter 5 map. Here’s every boss currently in the game:

– Montague
– Nisha
– Oscar
– Peter Griffin
– Valeria

Here’s what the bosses look like on the map:

The best way to deal with bosses is to play with others, or to let other players in your solo lobby do most of the damage and then take them out. You should also always maintain your distance from them, as bosses tend to turn into laserbeams at mid-short distances.

Once you have the Society Medallion in your inventory, your shield will now automatically replenish over time. The more Society Medallions you have, the more quickly the shield will regenerate. However, other players will also be able to see your approximate location on their map, and if you have more than one Society Medallion in your inventory, your location on their map will become more and more precise. You can have 5 Society Medallions in total; other players will drop their Society Medallions once defeated so you don’t need to defeat all 5 bosses.

The reason why they are called Society Medallions is because The Society are the villains of this season, with Jonesy along with the Underground trying to save Peely from their grasp. It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds over the course of the season, as well as what happens with the Society Medallions beyond this season.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
