Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 2 Will Comfortably Be The Longest Fortnite Season Ever

Many, many fortnights of Fortnite.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 1

Epic Games has just announced that Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 2 will be receiving another extension. Season 3 of Fortnite’s second chapter will now begin on June 11th instead of June 4th.

This marks the second time the game has been extended after it was originally intended to conclude on April 30th. That delay pushed Season 3 back to June 4th, which has now been extended for a further week.

Citing the need to make sure the game is ready for launch, this will make Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 2 the longest Fortnite season by some distance when it finally ends. Season 2 has been going on since February 20th, and with the season now concluding on June 11th, it will hit 112 days in total for a single season. That’s 3 months and 22 days in total.

This beats out the 100 or so days of Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 1, as well as any preceding delays. It’s hard to think of a time when a season of Fortnite wasn’t extended — this may be the fifth or sixth consecutive delay.

Previous seasons have had Overtime, but all seasons of Fortnite are due to end after 11 or so weeks. This is to allow ten weeks of challenges to be completed so that players can finish off their Battle Pass and unlock all cosmetics.

This time around, though, the extra content is a little on the light side. On the bright side, I guess the delay does give players plenty more time to unlock Golden Peely.

However, the added delay is entirely understandable, what with the stay at home orders and the effects that will have on workplace efficiency. It’s remarkable that they’re even managing to put a whole new season together at all. And it’s not like the delay will cause Fortnite’s fans, of which there are many, to leave in their droves.

Plus, let’s not forget the event for the season, which itself has been delayed to June 6th. We will be playing a post-event map for almost a week until the new season begins, so that will surely present a lot of interesting things to check out.

Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 2 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
