Epic Games have announced that they will extending Fortnite Chapter 2’s debut season until Early February. In a short blog post about the news, Epic Games state that they’re preparing for another 14 Days of Fortnite event to take place of over the holiday period, so they’ll be delayed the next season to accommodate.

This year we’ve got even more content for you to unwrap, including new game features, free rewards and a live experience that you won’t want to miss. To prepare for all the new holiday-themed updates, we will be extending Chapter 2’s first season into early February. Get ready for winter!

The decision to extend the first season of Chapter 2 is a welcome one. For players, they now have more time to finish the Season 1 Battle Pass and unlock all the rewards associated with it. It also means that players can focus on the 14 Days of Fortnite event without having to worry about a second Battle Pass and a brand new set of challenges on top of that limited time event.

As for the developers, they can purely focus on the 14 Days of Fortnite event without the need to create an additional Battle Pass and brand new season of content to run alongside the event. Hopefully, this decision should limit any developer crunch that the game was called out for this year.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
