Eastshade Is A Beautiful Game About Painting Out This February

Eastshade could be one of the year's prettiest and most unique games.

Eastshade game

Eastshade, a first-person title that many adventure aficionados have had their eye on for quite some time, is nearly here. Over the past few years, there has been huge lean towards adventure games with a focus on relaxation, in recent years there’s been the likes of Dear Esther, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture. Eastshade definitely fits into this category, but it has a unique wrinkle: you play as a travelling artist.

Gameplay largely sees you taking on requests for landscape paintings in and around the world of Eastshade. Wander around, find yourself a beautiful view, set up that easel and off you go; you’ll also find yourself chatting with the locals, while discovering their personal stories. As well as that, you’ll be exploring Eastshade, and mild crafting will allow you to access various locations in the game world.

This title is Eastshade Studio’s first major release (they did release a teaser, Leaving Lyndow, in 2017), and represents five years work since the founding of the studio. The studio was founded by former AAA game artist Danny Weinbaum, who had previously worked on the likes of State of Decay and Infamous: Second Son. He has been joined by a number of collaborators from around the world to make Eastshade, and from the looks of it, it’s shaping up to be a stunningly beautiful and relaxing fantasy experience.

Eastshade is due to be released on Steam on the 13th of February.
