Dying Light 2 takes place in the year 2036. This is 15 years after the Fall, an event which saw most of the world collapse following the spread of the THV virus, and 20 years after the events of Dying Light 1 in Harran.
Following the fall of Harran and the creation of a vaccine, the GRE started experimenting on the THV virus again in secret and created a new strain. That deadly THV strain soon spread around the world, with civilization as we know it collapsing not long after and a cure never being found thanks to the GRE also collapsing.
Dying Light 2’s story takes place in Villedor (also known as The City), believed to be the last known remaining cities on the planet. Players take control of Aiden as he makes his way to Villedor in search of his long missing sister.
