A decade after its predecessor, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is ready to emerge from the flames. When can you play it? Perhaps more importantly, where can you play it? Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 coming to Game Pass?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will launch on the PC and Xbox Series X & S, but not on Game Pass for either platform, as nothing has been announced as to DD2 coming to Game Pass so far. If you want to play it, it’s pretty likely that you’ll unfortunately just have to buy it.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 could come to Game Pass sometime in the future though. There’s really no deadline for it, so Capcom could put it up whenever they want. However, you should know that neither the first Dragon’s Dogma nor the Dark Arisen version are on Game Pass. It could take some time before Capcom even thinks about placing Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Game Pass.
About Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of Capcom’s latest single-player action RPGs. You play as an Arisen, someone whose heart was stolen by the Dragon. No, your character does not fall in love with the Dragon. Their heart was literally stolen by the Dragon.
Having a connection to the Dragon gives you superhuman powers to aid you on your adventure. You must travel far to find and eventually slay the Dragon, all according to the dogma of that world.
If that plot sounds familiar, that’s because it’s essentially the same plot as the first Dragon’s Dogma. It’s currently unknown if Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a sequel or if its plot is even connected to the first Dragon’s Dogma. Could the story just be a deliberate reference, a sort-of reboot, or something else?
Despite any images or clips you may have seen, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be completely single-player. Your companions, known as Pawns, are all AI-controlled. Capcom is boasting about the game’s advanced AI, claiming that it’ll make you feel like you’re playing co-op.
You can have one personal Pawn that you can customize to your liking. If you want other Pawns to join your party, you’ll have to recruit them from other players. So, there’s still some interaction with other players, just not how you probably would’ve imagined.
How are the graphics and animations? Well, Capcom states that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be running on their RE Engine. Other games that run on this engine are Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter Rise, and Street Fighter 6. Signs are pointing to buttery smooth animations and gorgeous graphics.
Capcom hasn’t announced the release date for Dragon’s Dogma 2 yet. But when it does arrive, it’ll arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S.
