The PlayStation 5 has a tonne of great features as a console, but arguably its biggest selling point is the DualSense, which really puts the DualShock 4 to shame in terms of what it can do. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are two of its biggest selling points with developers already finding ways to make the most of them. But what if you want to turn the features off?

Luckily, you can and it’s rather straightforward too.

To turn off haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on your DualSense, go to Settings (there should be a cog symbol on your home screen) and then find Accessories. While there, scroll down until you reach Controllers and then you should see a screen that looks like this.

Trigger Effect Intensity can be set to off to disable adaptive triggers while haptic feedback can also be turned by selecting the option under Vibration Intensity. If you just want to make both of the features less strong than they are, you can do that here as well.

So why would you want to turn off these features? Well, as neat as they are, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers don’t really help if you’re playing a competitive game like Call of Duty or Fortnite. In fact, they can be a hindrance. There’s also the question of accessibility as some people may not be able to use the adaptive triggers.

Something to note: neither of these features should be available on third-party PS5 controllers, just as the tech is proprietary and only found within the DualSense itself.
