If you want prove of how Anthem’s future might look, this is the news story for you. In response to player feedback, lead producer at BioWare Michael Gamble revealed on Twitter that the game will launch with a dedicated social space, where 16 players can hang out, show off their customised Javelins and take on missions. They can also chuck flares each other, so we’re already giving this game a 10/10 review. Spoiler alert.
After a mission, you can head back to Tarsis and catch up with some of the amazing characters we've created for you…OR…head back to the brand new Launch Bay, hang out with your friends, use the forge, reload and grab a new contract. Yeah, we listened to you… details soon! pic.twitter.com/m5sp96IpDh

The Launch Bay looks like Anthem’s take on areas like Destiny’s The Tower, or hideouts in The Division. It seems like the area will be quite barebones when the game comes out, but there’s always potential for it to grow and evolve in the months afterwards. Expect to see plenty of video involving mechanised dance parties, for starters. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until launch to see this area for yourself, as it won’t be a part of the betas happening this weekend and next weekend.
Personally, adding in a social hub like this after fan feedback seems indicative of how Anthem will be developed going forward. If the fans want a certain feature to be added, there’s no reason to believe that it wouldn’t be. That said, social spaces are a staple of most multiplayer games, particularly the likes of Destiny and The Division, which Anthem seems to take inspiration from. It’s a bit worrying that a feature like this wasn’t added from the start, and you have to wonder what else could potentially be missing from the final game.
