Bad news for anybody who was hoping to see the (probable) conclusion to Kazuma Kiryu’s epic saga of punching and karaoke: Yakuza 6 has been pushed back by a month.
The game will now launch in the West on April 17th instead of March 20th, which puts it just a week behind God of War, another PS4 exclusive, in the release schedule. It will be interesting to see how that pans out.
In a tweet, the series’ official Twitter account mentioned that it was a “tough decision”:

If you’re disappointed by the delay, don’t be. While delays may seem like a bad thing, taking the time to get things right for release day in an age where behemothic day one patches are the norm could work out even better for the game in the long run. I mentioned this when RDR 2 had its delay, but if you remember how often Persona 5 was pushed back and how well that turned out in the end, sometimes delays are exactly what is required.
If you can’t wait until April, however, a demo for Yakuza 6 will be out later this month on February 27th. Yakuza 6 is the first in the series to utilise the Dragon engine and picks up directly after Yakuza 5. Are you a Yakuza fan just itching to return to the series? Let us know in the comments.
