Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Revealed

Red Dead Redemption 2

After plenty of waiting and a delay, Rockstar Games have now revealed the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2: the prequel to the 2010 classic set in the Wild West.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will land on Xbox One and PS4 on October 26th, 2018.

Here’s the announcement from the Rockstar blog:

“We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.”

And the screenshots in question, which look as beautiful as you would expect:

I really don’t think they’re going to show John until the game’s out.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was due to come out a little earlier in the year during Q2/Q3, but if it’s within the same year, I’m sure a lot of people can forgive them. Rockstar are very rarely rushed and I also am of the belief that delays aren’t always a bad thing – remember how consistently pushed back Persona 5 was and how it ended up being worth the wait?

As an interesting aside, it shares the same release date Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had back in 2004. That’s got to be a good omen, if nothing else.
