There’s always somebody who leaks something in the lead up to a new Fortnite season. It’s Sony’s turn this time out with the icon for Season 3 being leaked on the PlayStation Store way ahead of the launch of the new season.
This leak more or less confirms the water theme of the season that’s been teased for a long time now, which will presumably also mean we will be able to swim underwater as suggested in previous leaks when Season 3 finally launches on June 11th.
The icon depicts the Battle Bus flying across the ocean with a small tropical island in the background, which looks like it might be part of the story for the upcoming season, or maybe just a nod to stranded Jonesy from one of the game’s animated shorts.

You can check out that animation in question below.
So, while the season’s ties to that animated short are up for debate, it does like we will be playing on a water-based map next season. While I think it could be a fun novelty, I imagine it would get very tiring across 10+ weeks, especially if it makes building a nuisance.
The fact that a Season 3 is even happening is remarkable, all things considered. Epic’s employees are all currently at home due to the worldwide situation, and it can’t be easy to get a season of content ready while working remotely. I would expect there to be quite a lot of issues when the season does eventually release.
Season 3 has been pushed back twice to date with it going on to become the longest season of Fortnite ever by quite some distance. At least Epic managed to keep the crowds at bay by releasing Recon Expert again, which is actually just a terrible skin.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 2 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
