According to a report from VGC, Remedy Entertainment, the developers of last year’s excellent Control, have signed a deal with a “major publisher” to create two unannounced video games, both of which will take place within the same franchise. The company is expected to make the formal announcement in a press release later today.

Both games will be multi-platform releases, with the first project described as a “AAA” title, while the second game is a smaller scale affair set in the same universe. They will be developed using Remedy’s proprietary Northlight engine, and are said to be released on next-gen consoles and PC in the next few years, so we won’t be seeing these games for a while.

Remedy will also retain ownership of the IP while splitting the profits with the publisher, so hopefully we won’t have another Alan Wake situation. Meanwhile, the developers will have their hands full already, as they’re creating DLC for Control, an unannounced multiplayer title referred to as Codename Vanguard, and the single player portion of Crossfire X for the Xbox One.
