Feeling a bit lazy from the sudden burst of summer? Same. BOYS’ debut single might just be what you’re looking for, then. The London dream pop quartet revealed ‘Nice Guys’ last Friday. It’s their debut single, to be released on 17th August. The track went online along with the announcement of their forthcoming debut EP, American Dream.
Take a deep breath and relax. Though it’s easy to call this song simplistic, that’s not to say it’s especially boring or unoriginal. There’s a straightforward, uncomplicated flow to the track that’s often lost when a band tries too hard to make a good first impression. But this dreamy number nails it.
Breathy vocals over Alvvays-esque instrumental makes ‘Nice Guys’ feel like a breath of fresh air in every sense. At under three minutes, it definitely feels like nothing more than a taster to whet appetites, but it’s a good indicator of what to expect from BOYS. This is a confident, understated but accomplished, and refreshing debut single.
